Tourism Marketing Partner Benefits: Deadlines

 

Join more than 200 Marketing Partners who collaborate annually with Norfolk County's Tourism & Economic Development office to help promote their businesses and investment in the community as a whole. By working together, this innovative marketing partnership has won provincial and national marketing awards -- not only for tourism promotions but for agricultural and economic development initiatives as well.

Regional Tourism Organization
The Ontario Ministry of Tourism & Culture has mandated the establishment of Regional Tourism Organizations (RTOs) in 13 tourism regions across Ontario. Within Region #1, Norfolk County is working with its tourism colleagues in Elgin County, Haldimand County, Chatham-Kent, Middlesex County, Oxford County, London, Sarnia-Lambton and Windsor-Essex. Tourism Product Development Plan
Norfolk County is working with its partners along Ontario's South Coast (Elgin, Haldimand) and in SCOR (Middlesex, Oxford, Brant) on a tourism product development plan for 12 case study properties across the six Counties. Matthew Fischer & Associates is working on this project. Stayed tuned.

 

Agri-Tourism Gap Analysis
With funding from the Ontario Market Investment Fund and the Norfolk District Business Development Corporation, Norfolk County is preparing an agri-tourism gap analysis to determine which opportunities our agriculture and tourism partners can explore. The final report is due this summer. Check back for updates.

Dave Pond and Mike McArthur of Long Point Eco-Adventures were named Norfolk County's 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year at the Tourism & Agriculture Symposium.

SCOR partnership continues

Norfolk County is collaborating with Brant, Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford on the economic diversification plan for South Central Ontario Region (SCOR). SCOR recently incorporated. More at www.scorregion.com.

 

South Coast Super Host Award

The Simcoe Reformer, in collaboration with Norfolk County's Tourism & Economic Development office, is awarding monthly South Coast Super Host Awards to front-line customer service workers who have demonstrated excellent hospitality and served as ambassadors for Norfolk County.  Nomination Form

 

 

Impact of Motorcycle Tourism

Norfolk County officials tagged almost 12,000 motorcycles at PD13 today, as part of the attempt at a Guinness World Record for the most motorcycles. In the process, we learned that motorcycle enthusiasts spend more than $17 million in Norfolk County per year, when a Friday the 13th event is in a warm month, including an average of five return visits in the same year. Ontario's South Coast Tourism Alliance

Norfolk County, with assistance from hundreds of tourism businesses, recently took delivery of the Final Reports of the Premier Ranked Tourist Destination Framework. Funded by the Ministry of Tourism and Employment Ontario, the final reports provides a Tourism Investment Blueprint for the industry in Norfolk County, as well as one for the Ontario's South Coast region, which includes Norfolk County, Haldimand County and Elgin County. The reports have been received by Norfolk County Council, and partners are welcome to read the documents and project background on the Premier Ranked web page of Norfolk County's economic development website. The latest Ontario's South Coast Tourism Alliance Action Plan is also available for review on the web page.

This full-colour publication includes a large map of Norfolk County, as well as several inset maps of urban areas and hamlets. There are listings of all participating farms and local food suppliers. Marketing Partners help to drive Norfolk County's marketing plan for tourism, agriculture and industrial growth, by investing in the partnership program and contributing financially to cooperative advertising and promotional initiatives. The Tourism & Economic Development Advisory Board and our partner focus groups work with Norfolk County Council and staff to achieve our joint goals and objectives. As a Norfolk County Marketing Partner, your business can receive many benefits, including the quarterly Marketing News via email.
