Apple cheddar sconesRecipe by: Jensen Cheese, Simcoe

  • 1 ¾ cups flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1/3 cup Jensen’s Whey Butter, cold
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup Jensen’s Extra Old Cheddar, shredded
  • 1 cup apples, diced and peeled

Preheat oven to 450˚F. In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in whey butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk, stir until just moistened. Gently fold in cheese and apples. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead 10 times. Pat dough into 9-inch circle and cut into 8 wedges. Separate wedges and place on greased baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
