Norfolk County is a leading apple-growing region in Ontario, and harvest is on the horizon.
In early August, a shipment of Lodi variety apples were received at the Norfolk Fruit Growers Association warehouse in Simcoe.
The Norfolk Fruit Growers is located on a 17-acre property with 3.5 million cubic feet of storage facilities, including cold, controlled-atmosphere, low-oxygen, common, and dry storage. The organization has invested in a new six-lake optical-sizing pack line, carton-sealing equipment, automated bagging units and weighers, automated carton accumulation and palletisation, and other new technologies.
The Apple Place, a retail shop located on the Norfolk Fruit Growers’ property, will reopen in September.
