Sentimental Christmas classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life” runs Nov 16 through Dec 3 on the Simcoe Little Theatre stage…
“It’s a Wonderful Life”, is quite simply, a definitive Christmas classic. The film’s annual arrival on the television airwaves is another sign that the Christmas season is here. But while many of us know and love the 1940s classic film, many might be unaware of the two-act play that tells the same story with a few differences from the film. These two changes aside, the play still maintains the heart-warming holiday season tale of hope, redemption and the ultimate goodness of people that many love and enjoy year after year.
Guided by first time co-directors Darleen Degrieck and Sarah Finch, the cast brought together in auditions were drawn together by their love of the classic film.
“We have a stellar cast and are very excited to show patrons the final product,” says Sarah Finch, one of the directors, “many of our actors are enthusiastic newcomers who are eager to do the film that they love justice.”
“This is a very large cast – there are 22 actors – which can add some challenges but we are also lucky to have a seasoned crew to help guide us in our first time effort as directors.” Added Darleen Degrieck.
The directors themselves are equally enthusiastic to engage audiences through this timeless Christmas classic.
“We wanted to do something together for a long time and “It’s a Wonderful Life” was on this season’s playbill. Then, we decided that it would be a fun project to work on.” Sarah Finch explained.
With such enthusiasm and dedication to delivering a great show based on a film much beloved by all, this production is not to be missed.
