It seems like summer wants to stick around a little longer this year. Perhaps this is the perfect opportunity to get you golfing a few more rounds this season. Norfolk County has multiple golf courses to choose from starting in early spring to late fall for the avid or new golfers.
Many of our golf courses are about to switch to fall rates which is a bonus if you want to golf this autumn. A few local golf courses are offering ‘a buck a hole’ specials until the end of the season. Enquire about fall rates and enjoy a beautiful day outdoors.
The camps are over and the tournaments are dwindling down so that means there are more tee times to chose from. Visit The Greens of Renton and expect a nice open fairway with limited number of trees to ensure you don’t have to look under the leaves for your ball!
This warm weather into fall season opens up so many opportunities to be active. Start the day with golf and make some pit stops at local farms to enjoy the bounty of Norfolk. Farmers’ markets are still open in Port Dover, Simcoe, Waterford and Port Rowan. There are also many roadside stands to purchase local vegetables directly from the farmers. Pick up a bushel of apples or get enough root vegetables to cook a yummy fall soup.
How about celebrating the season with an outdoor yoga session in the orchard at the Cider Keg in Vittoria? Join me (Amelie Chanda, Wellness Coach) in a gentle yoga practice on October 1st from 1pm to 2:30pm to celebrate the harvest, give thanks to the earth and take the time to be grateful for this beautiful season. Take home 2L of apple and tart cherry cider (included in the cost). Stay longer and get your fall shopping done at this Farmer’s market location.
Another fun way to be active is to organize a group and book an event at Judgement Day Paintball just outside of Delhi. This activity is sure to get your heart rate up while having a good time with friends, family or co-workers. The season runs quite late at this location, book now for a special occasion until late fall. Get ready to run, hide and jump and get your adrenaline pumping.
The Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show (October 3-9, Simcoe) is right around the corner and although that often means a lot of snacking, it also involves lots of walking and being outdoors. I always look forward to this wonderful event. I love seeing what our land produces, the animals that we farm and celebrate what Norfolk has to offer. What is your favorite thing to do at the fair? I really love the vegetable competition. I wonder what the biggest pumpkin will weigh in at. Make a plan to attend many of the fall related activities that the fair hosts every year.
So get off the couch and start exploring Norfolk County. I encourage you to post pictures of you being active in Norfolk by using the hashtag #GoNorfolk. Empower others to move in Ontario’s Garden!
