Ready to try some new activities?
Norfolk County is not lacking options!
From Pickleball to Aquafit, it’s easy to find something that get you excited about being active!
The wide variety of offerings in the area gives you the opportunity to experiment with various exercises and sports at a low cost. Love to dance? Try Dancefit, a low impact fun dance exercise that is similar to zumba but a bit easier to manage for beginners.
I absolutely love skating with my family. It is a truly Canadian activity and we always have a good time doing it together. Each local arena offers public skating and other programming to get you into your skates this winter. The after school time slot is very popular with families and a perfect way to move together. Also look for “Parents and Tots” or “Adult only” on the schedule to find the perfect fit for your family situation.
Yoga, Chi Gong … and more
What about Yoga or Chi Gong? Yes, we have that too! There are tons of options to choose from for all ages. Connect with Norfolk County’s Recreation Department on social media to keep up to date with what is happening across our communities. Get a Pass Card or pay as you go to enjoy the local programs. Bring your friends and turn social hour into healthy hour.
I tend to be very active outdoors throughout the year but often feel like I need something extra when the weather gets really cold. This is a great time to sign up for a gym membership! Try the fitness centre located at the Travelodge in Simcoe and explore the 900 square feet of weight training and cardio space. At this fantastic location you can also find an indoor pool, a sauna and the opportunity to try a good variety of super fun classes. From spinning and stretching to high intensity interval training, you are likely to find something that you fancy.
Live Broadcast Monday November 27 at 6pm
I will be live from the gym at the Travelodge on Monday November 27th at 6:00pm. Join the broadcast on Norfolk Tourism’s Facebook page to see the facility, the instructors and find out what the classes are all about!
Simcoe Christmas Panorama
The holidays are fast approaching and Norfolk has something unique that draw visitors each year. Simcoe Christmas Panorama will turn on its lights this Saturday November 25th starting at 6pm. Come down for a beautiful walk around the parks that day or any day until December 31st. Literally thousands of lights and themed displays transform Simcoe’s downtown parks into a winter wonderland, don’t miss out! Dress warm and come find the Christmas spirit downtown!
Don’t let the cold weather slow you down, get off the couch and explore what Norfolk County has to offer! I encourage you to post your pictures of you being active in Norfolk by using the hashtag #GoNorfolk. Empower others to move in Ontario’s Garden!
