Description
Recipe by: Chary Produce, Oakland
Ingredients
- 1 can garbanzo beans (chick peas)
- 1/3 cup tahini
- 1/3 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup roasted red peppers
- 1/2 tsp dry basil or a few fresh basil leaves
- Garlic, to taste
- Salt & pepper
Methods/steps
To make the roasted red peppers: Red bell peppers work best
because their walls are the thickest. Wash the peppers and put the entire wet pepper on its side on a hot grill. As the skin blackens
& bubbles, turn them. When the whole pepper is black
(15-20 minutes), remove from the grill. Peel the blackened skin
while the pepper is warm. Remove stem & core and rinse.
To make the hummus, put all of the items into a food processor
and mix until smooth. Chill.
Serve with toasted baguette or baked pita triangles.
