Farmers in Norfolk County grow about 1,500 acres of the green spears, the first in several waves of local produce that pass across dinner plates in spring, summer and fall in Ontario.
“Make a habit of buying local produce this year by starting with asparagus,” said Clark Hoskin, spokesperson for Norfolk County’s tourism and economic development office.
“Visit Norfolk County, where you can see it being picked in the field. You can buy asparagus now at many of our roadside stands and farmers markets.”
