Norfolk County is a leading grower of Sweet Corn in Canada.
More than 3,500 acres of sweet corn are grown by more than 30 farms.
Nutrition tip: Sweet corn helps the body produce ferulic acid, which has anti-cancer properties. An average ear of corn has only 83 calories!
Welsh Brothers grows two varieties of premium GMO-free sweet corn:
“Gourmet Sweet” (photo left) is a fresh, bi-colour (yellow and white) variety of sweet corn.
“Chocolate Sunshine” is a yellow variety of sweet corn in limited supply with a distinctive buttery flavour.
Norfolk County farmers also grow over 65,000 acres of corn for grain and 1,900 acres of corn for silage. These varieties are generally used for food processing and animal feed.
