On Tuesday July 10, everyone is invited to the Delhi Tobacco Museum and Heritage Centre for a fashion presentation showcasing coats from The Naturalist’s Closet. This powerful event will feature eleven coats, including the reveal of the two latest, all created by Norfolk County artist Marguerite Larmand with communities from across Canada. Inspired by nature, participants designed and stitched a section individually, but with a unified vision. The sections were then assembled to form one single or pair of coats.
The final coats in the show, revealed for the first time, will be Nicotiana Rustica and Nicotiana Tabacum. Inspired by traditional and recreational tobacco plants, these two vibrant additions to The Naturalist’s Closet were created in Delhi, Ontario and will become a part of the Delhi Tobacco Museum & Heritage Centre’s collection. Thirty five members of the community worked together to fabricate the pieces that would become the two Nicotiana coats, under Marguerite’s leadership.
All are welcome to join the celebration at the Delhi Tobacco Museum & Heritage Centre, 200 Talbot Road, Delhi on Tuesday July 10 at 7 p.m. and enjoy the coats from The Naturalist’s Closet. Admission by donation.
