The Norfolk County Fair brings back special memories for me every October. It was October 1962, 55 years ago, that my boyfriend (now my husband), proposed to me at the fair! He had worked priming tobacco all summer long, on his father’s farm…to save up the money for my diamond ring! I had always loved going to the fair! What a special place to get engaged!
It’s a great microcosm of the county.
Love the entertainment and food.
I love to spend the day wandering through all the exhibit buildings, listening to Bandaloni and eating caramel corn 🙂
Just moving here from Port Colborne my husband and I hope to make the Simcoe Fair a yearly tradition. So far we are finding Norfolk County a beautiful location with plenty of activities to do.
We look forward to the fair all year!
It’s always a great encore to a beautiful summer spent in Norfolk County. Between the animals, vendors, food, music, rides, & exhibits…there is always something for everyone to enjoy.
The fair has been a family tradition for as long as I can remember. It’s a time to see all of the exhibits, taste all the carnival eats and a time of socializing and catching up with old friends and enjoying all of the entertainment.
I love the fair and it was always a family outing when my girls were younger. We had moved from Kingston area when they were in grade school and the Fair was the greatest event we had been to. My youngest lives on Vancouver Island and every year she would say from her home at Fair time, “I sure wish I was there to go with you Mom”. This year she is going to be here on Thanksgiving Monday to be with me when I have a second surgery on skin cancer on my scalp. She flies in to London at 6am and we will be at the Fair for the day.
A scary reason for her to be home is a blessing as we can go out and enjoy some fun together.
I like to check out all the farm animals, the demo derby, awesome entertainment, vendors, and especially the delicious food. It is a family tradition!
I love the fair I have been going since I was a small kid. My parents would take me and my sister and we would go with my aunt and uncle and my 2 cousins every single year. Always looked forward to going and having a blast. I attend the fair every year at least twice a year. I love going through the buildings of course buying a few things, the rides, also the fair food and love attending the demolition derby and the monster truck and dirtbike night as well!!!
Love everything about Norfolk County Fair!! The food! The vendors! Watching the kids having fun! Running into old friends! But most of all celebrating my birthday during Fair week!! I’ll take a Dixie Dog over Birthday cake any day!!
It’s a tradition! Even when we didn’t live in Norfolk County we came back for the fair! We just love walking around, looking at the vendor offerings & the food!!
I love the smell and taste of the “fair” food, walking through the building exhibits, fresh apple cider, and watching the kids excitement as they go on the rides.
I enjoy horse shows, sheep sheeting, spinning and completions for best vegetables. You do not see much of this at other fairs.
Corn dogs and the demoliton derby.
I love the traditions in our family of attending this fair every year together.
Experiencing all the world-class agricultural produce grown in Norfolk
Have been going every year since I was a young child, Love all the smells, the people, and the grand stand shows. The buildings and exhibits are always a must to see. I love running into old friends and meeting new ones. This is definitely the Fair to go to.
It is tradition with my family. Ever since my daughter was one we have attended the fair. We are from Woodstock. It is a nice country fair, lots of vendors, shows, food, rides, games etc. My daughter loves horses so coming to the Horse Shows is a big draw. I love fall and how the fair is decorated for fall makes it even more beautiful. Looking forward to attending again this year.
Norfolk County is a beautiful County to tour around it lots of hidden gems.
Norfolk County fair one of my favourite fairs! I love all the smells of the fair food going through the buildings special time of year
TRADITION! I remember cheering on my schoolmates for tug of war, I remember feeling very sick after the Tilt’a’Whirl! Years go by and then my daughter is cheering on her school and daring her friends to go on the scary rides! Fast forward a few more years and now I am taking my granddaughter to the fair. The Grandstand! The biggest pumpkin! Cotton Candy! Dixie Dogs! Taffy! The Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show is yet another reason our roots are in Norfolk County.
Visiting the animals, and, of course, the demolition derby!
We have been going to the fair for the past 10 years . It’s the best fair around and we look forward to it every year. I love all the venders in the buildings, my husband loves all the food and most importantly he loves the demolition derby .
For as long as I can remember, it was family tradition to come to the Norfolk County Fair, no matter where we moved to. The caramel corn, Taffy, even the year it snowed during the fair! Very fond memories. I am now 57, and bring my children. They enjoy it much better than the city fairs. County Fairs are the best!
Sine I was a child, it was a family tradition to go to the Fair, no matter where we moved to, we always came back. Caramel Corn, Taffy, even the year it snowed during the Fair! I am now 57 and now bring my grandchildren! County Fairs are the best!

As a new resident to Norfolk County, I’m looking forward to seeing what the fall fair showcases. I love the sights, sounds, music and busy atmosphere of a fall fair.
I like to see all of the huge pumpkins & squash.
We just moved to the area at the end of last year and have heard so many good things about the fair.
Looking forward to going and finding out all about the wonderful things at the fair!
Love the country music concerts!
I’m 54 years old and I still love to pet the goats, cows, sheep, llamas and other critters in the ag building!
I love Norfolk and the fair there ,I was raised in a small town of Northbay area ,moved when I was young and am fighting to get back to a small town ,and have been trying for the past 4 months to move to Norfolk county,,there’s nothing like the people the shops ,my opinion simpler life ,not so stressed out ,I told my kids I fought like heck to move to the big city and now at this age I fight like heck to get back ,nothing like country roots ,also would live to meet Tim Hicks ,just sayin 😊
I love going to the fair, I love the food, the exhibits, running into old friends, the animals. Rides and music what is there not to love at the fair,
Love the smells, the sounds, the tastes, the dance of colours, the laughter, the energy!
I love the food- pogos, kettle corn, deep fried snickers. Gotta pace it out over the weeks several days of volunteering. I love the art building and running into so many friends. Hearing the kids having so much fun is a delight.

I love taking my family to see and hear the excitement and sounds of the Norfolk County Fair. I enjoy seeing the arts and crafts people submit. I always have to grab some cotton candy and mini donuts at the fair.
See you soon!!!
The favourite part of Norfolk County Fair for me is music, entertainment, people with smiles on their faces and the excitement of the children. Followed by corn dogs and the displays in the buildings. The Fair represents the end of summer and hails in the fall in this beautiful County.
I hold many good childhood memories of visiting family in Simcoe. But Norfolk County Fair time was especially special one year, as I somehow got a Cupie Doll. It was a huge fad at the time and it was advertised a lot, like so many childhood dream toys. I was ecstatic to squeeze the wee doll in my happy, wee hands, with big hugs of joy. Getting a toy one has so desired is a huge deal.
Taffy was another joy of mine I loved to discover as often as I could. The food stand that had the three flavoured Neopolitan variety was also very much appreciated.
The sounds of the music, rides, crowd, the amazing smells, the bright coloured lit rides and signs were exciting to see in the Autumn warm air. Oh to be a little one again at The Norfolk Fair.
My favourite part of Norfolk County Fair is the 4-H competitions. All three of my sons have been a part of 4-H and have participated in the shows. My favourite is of course the llama show, but I also enjoyed watching the 4-H dairy calf competition. 4-H has been an important part of our family’s life for over 10 years and the fair for even longer.
As a kid I loved going to the Fair on Young Canada Day…..such excitement and the cheering! My father loved to enter his hay and often won first prize. I used to enter produce and baking. Of course there’s the food…..apple cider, the smell of frying onions, dixie dogs, the fudge, Norfolk’s specialties…..all delicious! I can spend hours looking at the art and photography or just sitting and watching the horses.
Watching the demo derby is always a favourite
My favorite part of the fair is the noise, the music, the people milling about, the excitement of the children. It rounds off the summer and hails in the start of fall.
I have been attending the Norfolk County Fair for over 60 years. I enjoyed the fair with my kids, and now enjoy it with my grandchildren. Nothing compares to “fair food”. For one whole week I enjoy all my faves (which is just about everything they serve at the fair). The sounds, the smells and the crowds all add to the excitement. My fondest memory of the fair was when I was five years old, all sticky from eating candy floss, my mom asked the man at the fish pond if she could dip her kleenex in the water, and wash my face. I make sure I wander through all the buildings, visit the rabbits & chickens, the cow barn (must see momma pig with her babies) & never miss the largest pumpkin. The grandstand always provides the greatest entertainment. I get as excited now as I did when I was a kid. Wouldn’t miss the fair for anything. Six more sleeps.
Have never been to fair, would love tickets to go!
Watching my kids attend young Canada day events. The fair food. And the concerts and demo derby.
Our family loves the Norfolk County Fair. It is the best fall Fair around. There is so much to see and do yet maintains the agricultural culture. Best food, yum!
we love the Freebies and entering the contests and then sitting back for the next year waiting on a phone call saying that we are the chosen ones and have a chance to go on a luxury vacation and all we need to do is to give them our Credit card number.
Watching the demo derby and eating all the “great ” food 🥘
Love going to the demolition derby with my kids and soon to be their kids ( my grandkids). Food is always good too. Looking forward to a great week.
I love all the amazing food, and now taking my kids through the animal barns!
I love all the fresh fruits and vegetables available at the farm gate! So fresh.
Wish I could tell you, but we moved only recently into the neighbourhood.
This means we will have to finally go and find out all about the excitement.
I love the look on my little grandson’s face when he is enjoying the rides or sitting on the tractors.
The rides and food…monster trucks of course! We wait all year for fair time to come. Love spending the day as a family together at the fair!
I love the excitement on my kids faces with every experience! They love the rides, the games, seeing their artwork from school displays, the animals and of course the shows!
I love making memories with my family! My girls love the rides, I love the building exhibits and the music. We all love the food!!
I love how excited my niece and nephew get every year when they see the rides being set up. We take a walk through the fair grounds the day before it opens just scope out favourite rides and food vendors.
I love that it’s still primarily an agricultural fair. The giant pumpkins and squash, etc. are always amazing. It’s great to see local crafts, art work, and food creations in the display buildings.
Without a doubt it is the many really nice people who man the booths and tell us about their families, companies and lives. Down to earth good people.
I have loved the home town Norfolk County Fair since I was a wee child. I always looked for the day off school to attend the buildings, with all the vegetables, ( see the biggest and who grown it) flowers, contest for the winners, corn, tobacco jams, judging, and the women’s clubs, ( with quilting, knitting, crocheting, etc competition), The art work was great on all ages, (many times I never new some one had such great talent. I also enjoyed going to the barns, with ducks, pigeons, rabbits, cows, horses etc. Watching the sheep being sheer ( there was so much to learn). The judging of the animals and how to handle them. The horse races I enjoyed from barrel racing to chuck wagon and standard bred harness racing. When the schools had there tug of war we always cheered them on. All the students art work when each school would show off there students talents. The entertainment was great lots of variety. Then I remembered always going to Bingo with Grandma as she would win a prize, The rides were the best in the area everyone came out. Over the years I have taken children, friends, and family and still get the excitement each and every time – at this time of year knowing The Norfolk Fair is just around the corner. I live away from the area now but always make time to return to my Home Town Simcoe for some of this Fantastic Week. Why Don’t You Pack The Family and Friends Up and Go to the Norfolk County Fair, I know you will always return as I have with Friends over the years.
My husband and I met 48 yrs ago in the cow barn at the Norfolk County Fair! That’s why we go back every year to celebrate and share a kiss in the barn!
My favorite things about the Norfolk County fair are the vendor buildings, the corn bingo and of course all the food! My whole family just loves the gyros! I have a sweet tooth so fudge is definitely on my list to buy. OH ya can’t forget all the animals especially the horses:)
The Zipper!
Love the sites, sounds and smells of a Fall Fair. This will be our first visit to the Norfolk County fair as we are new to the area!

Food…food….food. !!! Lots of food and fun. Born and raised in Simcoe. Never miss going to the fair
I can’t just pick one favourite. I love the fair food, the vendors & the horses, Eat & Drink Norfolk is a wonderful place to sample the local flavours.and Flavourfest is a an excellent place to pick up local products. The atmosphere is memorable!
I love the exhibits, the food and hearing the excitement of all the fair happenings. Always a great time in the fall. Looking forward to going again this year. Shout out to all the volunteers. We appreciate your hard work !!
When I was a teenager, I was hired by Conklin Shows to setup operate and tear down the bounce castle, and also to run bumper cars for meal breaks! I helped tear down several rides when the fair was over. It was fun, exciting, and my very first paying job!
The love the food. I especially love the cinnamon buns. I really admire the fine art displays as well. I always vote for the people choice award!
I enjoy going to the demolition derby on Thanksgiving Monday. I have been there on that day for as long as I can remenber 🙂
All of the exhibits and the great food!
I absolutely love the buildings! Even as a kid the giant produce trumped all the rides for me! I love the crafts and horse activities too. It always feels like home!
I don’t have a favorite part yet. I just moved to the area and this year will be the first. Can’t wait!!
I love the crowds, the sounds, the smells, absolutely everything about the fair! When I was a child ” fair day” was almost exciting as Christmas Day. Couldn’t sleep in anticipation of going to the fair!
Love the fair, the friends, the kids smiles..and so lucky we have this in our community..

Too hard to narrow it down to one. Bryon’s dixie dogs. They are the best! The lights noise music and general atmosphere that you can only get at the fair. Seeing people you haven’t seen in awhile or ones you see all the time! The feeling of nostalgia because you have gone each and every year since you were very young. I could go on and on……..

Definately love the musical talent on Friday and Saturday nights. And just walking around the fair with my family and enjoying all the vendors and entertainment.
Love the games and vendors and great food!
My favourite part of the fair is getting to be reunited with my family, who I get to see every year at Fair. It’s become a family tradition ever since I was extremely young, and now that I’ve moved away, I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like. But every year, no matter what, we always make it for a Family Day Out at the Norfolk County Fair!
I love the horse shows and young Canada day and of course the grandstand shows. There is no better fair than Norfolk County Fair
All the yummy food! and the music!!
I love the fun atmosphere, the food, the rides and the horse shows.
The Fall wouldn’t be the same without the Norfolk County Fair. It’s been an annual tradition since I was a little girl and my enthusiasm for it has not waned over the decades. Great mix of everything Norfolk County has to offer and showcase to its guests each year. There is something for everyone there. Can’t wait to go!
Love the whole fair…..buildings, exhibits , vendors, entertainment, the food animals…….
Cheers p
